Tall pillows, flat pillows, "orthopaedic" pillows the size of a suitcase. Every one of them treated the head as the thing to support, and left the neck to sort itself out. The fix turned out to be small: a firm, curved roll that sits in the gap under your neck so it stays in its natural line while you sleep.
